A Special Short Story featuring the Pizza Bros Characters!
The ball is dropped on the Chesterwood Pizza Bros store and they immediately have to implement The Zombie Apocalypse Pizza Preparedness Plan. Ed thinks it’s a joke until Debbie confirms it’s real.
The inspiration for The Z.A.P.P.P Plan Part 2 was to continue the story set up from Part 1. We wanted to visually show the ridiculousness of exactly “what” The Founder was asking of his stores.
Difficulties
Creating a pixel art machine gun nest on the roof of Pizza Bros was pretty difficult. I first had to think about what the top of the Pizza Bros store roof would look like and then create several sprites to bring the scene to life.
Comedy Writing and Pixel Art Coming Together
Ed not believing that The Z.A.P.P.P Plan was real and calling Debbie was hilarious. I mean, if you got an email like that, wouldn’t you call your boss too? Then to top it off, Steve and Dennis overhearing the conversation and being super excited about it was also fun to write.
Most Fun to Create
In this episode of Pizza Bros, I really started to experiment with “close up” pixel art scenes. Too close and all you see is a bunch of square pixels, too far away and you loose the “close up” effect. It’s a delicate balance between your brain being able to understand what you are looking at and getting the “close up” effect.
